Working amidst toxic chemicals and dust, nail salons are increasingly dangerous workplaces. For Cat and Anna, Southeast Asian activists at Mekong NYC, nail salons are also spaces that hold childhood memories and family ties. Against mounting political pressures, it’s an all-hands-in affair to protect workers and save a longtime staple business in their community.
